Fuel retailer PT Vivo Energy Indonesia plans to build three oil refineries through 2022 in the western and east parts of the country to produce fuel products for distribution particularly at home, Koran Tempo reported on Monday.
The paper quoted Vivo Corporate Communications Manager, Maldi Al-Jufrie as saying that the first refinery with capacity of 170,000 bpd will be developed in 2018, and the second with capacity of 90,000 bpd in the following year.
The third, to be located in eastern part of Indonesia, will have much greater capacity of 200,000 bpd to be developed in 2022. He said that this refinery is also in anticipation of possible export to Australia in case the domestic market could not fully absorb the company?s entire fuel products.
Vivo, which has recently entered the country?s fuel retail sector with the opening up of its first fuel refill station in East Jakarta in October, currently imports its fuel products from parent Vitol.
Elsewhere, Maldi said Vivo plans to build 30 new fuel refill stations in several cities in Indonesia as part of expansion program. The company is currently developing 15 fuel stations. (*)
