PT Voksel Electric Tbk, publicly listed electric and telecommunication cable producer, has secured new contracts worth Rp 1.12 trillion from state electricity company PLN as of April this year, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Tuesday.

Voksel?s President Director Heru Gondokusumo said in Jakarta on Monday that with the contracts from PLN, he was optimistic that total sales would reach Rp 1.6 trillion in the first semester, or 45 percent of full year target.

?Contracts from PLN have reached 70 percent of the 2012 target of Rp 1.6 trillion. In the first semester, we hope we can book 45 percent of total sales,? he said.

In addition Voksel also secures contracts from PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk and several private companies. In order to further boost revenues, the company also takes part in a project tender with Asian Development Bank worth $20 million.

Voksel also plans to increase exports to several countries in the Middle East such as Iraq because the economic slowdown would unlikely affect cable demand in these countries. (*)
