IDX-listed electrical and telecommunication cable maker PT Voksel Electric Tbk is seeking to expand its market share at home as it eyes the growing market of power sector.

President Director of Voksel, David Lius said on Monday that its electrical cable products has been certified by the Ministry of Industry to have local content of up to 95 percent, which bodes well for the company as the government is pushing for the use of more locally-produced products in the domestic power infrastructure development.

?The local content (level) is one of our strengths particularly for conductor products which are directly linked to the (planned) 46,000 kms transmission line projects related to the (government?s program to develop a combined) 35,000 MW (power plant projects), where our conductor products have already 95 percent local content,? he explained.

He said that the expansion in the power plant sector has prompted the company to continue expand production capacity. He claimed that Voksel currently holds 40 percent share of the domestic electrical cable market.

David said the company?s largest customer is state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, followed other state firms, and private contractors both local and foreign. He added that for the fiber optic cable product, the largest customer is IDX-listed telecom firm PT Telkom.

He said that Voksel has also exported its products to markets in Asia, US, and Africa.
