VP leaves for Japan with LNG contract extension on the agenda

Vice President Jusuf Kalla is leaving for Japan for five days working visit until Saturday Kompas reported.

Kalla would be scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Foreign Minister Taro Aso and Minister of Economy Trade, Industry Akira Amari and Japan?s industry captains.

High on the agenda is talks about extension of LNG contract from Bontang to Japan which would expire in 2010-11.

Kalla has stated that Indonesia would only be able to extend 3 MTPA contract out of the 12 MTPA contracts due to declining gas supply and increased domestic demand.

Indonesia and Japan will resume LNG extension talks today, a BPMIGAS official said this week. (*)
