VPower to develop power plant on Nias Island

Hong Kong-based VPower has signed an agreement with Nias Regency administration and the state-owned power firm PT PLN to develop a gas-fired power plant on Nias Island, North Sumatra, a report said Tuesday. No further details about the planned project were provided by the report.

Antara said that VPower currently has power projects in Jambi, Pekanbaru and Kalimantan. The company plans to have over 1,000 MW of power plants in Indonesia by the end of 2017.

"VPower has the proven technology to meet Indonesia's immediate power demands, and we'll continue to identify power solution strategies that address their power needs in way that's responsible to the environment too," said VPower Co-CEO Rorce Au-Yeung.
