W. Java government to auction three geothermal fields

The provincial administration of West Java will auction three geothermal areas including Mount Papandayan field in Garut, Mount Gede-Pangrango field in Cianjur and Mount Ciremai field in Kuningan regency.

The three geothermal fields have the capacity to produce geothermal steam able to generate 150 megawatt of power, respectively, far bigger that three other fields being auctioned in January, this year.

The previous three geothermal fields includes Mount Tampomas field in Sumedang with a capacity of 20-50 MW, the Cisolok Cisukarame field in Sukabumi with a capacity of 30-45 MW and Mount Tangkuban Perahu in Subang with a capacity of 100 MW.

PT Wika Jabar Geothermal Power has won the tender for the Mount Tampomas geothermal field which covers 27,010 hectares of areas, while PT Jabar Halimun Geothermal and PT Tangkuban Perahu Geothermal Power secured the contracts for the development of the 15,580 ha-Cisolok Cisukarame and the 44,710-ha Mount Tangkuban Perahu fields.

Geothermal reserves in West Java are found in 43 areas with total estimated capacity of 6,000 megawatt. (*)
