W. Java IPP in coal supply talks with top coal producers

Independent power producer PT Cirebon Electric Power (CEP), West Java, is in final stage of negotiation with top Kalimantan miners PT Kideco Jaya Agung and PT Adaro Indonesia to supply coal to its Cirebon 660-MW power plant in Cirebon, which is currently on construction.

CEP Coal Procurement Director Jack Park told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday that Kideco, which is Affiliate Company of CEP, will supply 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) while Adaro will supply 1 MTPA. ?Price negotiation is underway with both parties,? he said, adding that the contracts would be long term.

The power plant would require 3MTPA of coal.

Park said currently construction of the power plant is 60 percent completed with commercial operations expected late 2010 or early 2011.

Japanese firm Marubeni Corp. has 32.5 percent in CEP with PT Indika Energy, Korea Midland Power Co. Ld and Sam Tan Corp having 20 percent, 27.5 percent and 20 percent, respectively.(denny)
