W. Kalimantan coal miner to start production in 2009

West Kalimantan coal miner PT Yamabhumi Palaka expects to start initial coal production from its mine early 2009 , starting with 30,000 tons per month, ramping up to 100,000 ton per month from the second semester of 2009.

Yamabhumi?s Director Aris Munandar told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday that coal from its mine would be combination of thermal and coking coal. ?About 60 percent of coal will thermal and the remaining will be coking coal,? he said.

The company has appointed PT Cipta Karya as a mining contractor. All output will go to export, such as Japan and Malaysia, he said.

PT Yamabhumi Palaka is third generation of coal contract of work (CCoW) holder with coverage area of 60,000 Ha, located in Sintang regency, West Kalimantan. (denny)
