W. Papua discovery well starts production

Swedish independent oil, gas firm Lundin Petroleum reported on Wednesday that South East Walio-1 on the Salawati Basin block, West Papua has started production in February 2009.
The well was completed as an oil discovery late last year and was put to into accelerated production programme as it was close to infrastructure.
A Petromindo.Com source said that the well is currently producing 1,900 BPD of oil.
The forward plan is to drill two further appraisal wells in 2009, Lundin said, adding that the initial estimates of the size of the discovery are 10-15 MMboe gross.
Lundin has 25.936% interest in the block with operator PetroChina, PEARL Oil and state oil, gas company PT.Pertamina having 30%, 34% and 10%, respectively. (denny)
