Wacik inaugurates new drilling pipe factory in Batam

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik on Friday inaugurated the operation of a new factory PT Dhiva Sarana Metal, Batam-based supplier of steel pipe for oil and gas industry, mainly for casing and tubing.
Dhiva Sarana has spent about US$22.5 million for the factory since July, 2012, which has the capacity to produce 150,000 tons of pipes per year with diameter ranges of between 2.35 and 20 inches, it said in a statement.
During the occasion Jero said that the oil and gas upstream industry would need about 322,000 tons of casing and tubing pipes this year.
