Wacik to sign decree on hydro power FIT

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik said his office will soon issue feed in tariff (FIT) for electricity generated from hydro power plants, having earlier introduced FIT for geothermal power.

On the sidelines of infrastructure seminar and exhibition in Jakarta, he said: "Soon I will sign a decree on attractive prices for power from hydropower plants." He did not elaborate.

Wacik had recently signed a ministerial decree on geothermal prices. "It will be made effective soon. I hope this will encourage investors to invest in geothermal power plants so that we can realize up to 6000 MW power generated from geothermal in next two years."

He said in the decree it had been set that price of geothermal power in Sumatra is 10 US cents/kwh, in java 11 cents, in South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi 12 cents, in Southeast Sulawesi 13 cents, in West n East Nusa Tenggara at 14 cents, and in Papua 18 cents.
