Waskita eyes power transmission project

IDX-listed engineering and construction company PT Waskita Karya Tbk aims to participate in the development of a 500 KV electricity transmission in Sumatra estimated to worth about Rp 10 trillion, Investor Daily reported on Thursday.

The paper quoted Waskita President Director Muhammad Choliq as saying that if the firm wins the 1,200 Km transmission line project, it would be its first transmission project.

He said that the project will be divided into 12 packages, and Waskita, a state-controlled company, is seeking to develop a number of the packages.

Choliq said that funding would not be a problem for Waskita as the company plans to raise funds via rights issue worth Rp 5.3 trillion this year, in which the government would inject about Rp 3.5 trillion. (*)
