IDX-listed engineering and construction company PT Waskita Karya Tbk plans to expand the capacity of its 2x5 MW micro hydro power plant in Sangir, West Sumatra Province, next year.

Waskita Director Agus Sutiono said on Wednesday to Petromindo.com that the company plans to expand the power plant, which started commercial operation late last year, by another 3 MW.

He said that the company will allocate around Rp 9 billion to finance the planned expansion program. Considering the capacity of the local water dam, the plant has the potential increase capacity up to 13 MW, he added.

The plant is owned and operated by PT Waskita Sangir Energy, which is 85 percent owned by Waskita Karya, with the remainder held by PT Shalawat Power.
