Waskita to build hydro power plant in W. Sumatra

IDX-listed construction firm PT Waskita Karya Tbk is teaming with West Sumatra-based energy firm PT Shalawat Power to build a mini hydro power plant in the province, Investor Daily reported Friday.

The two firms will set up a joint venture company called PT Waskita Sangir Energi, in which Waskita holds the majority 85 percent shares.

Waskita Karya Finance Director Tunggul Radjagukguk said that the hydro power plant, to be located in Solok, is expected to require total investment of Rp 150 billion. He added that the joint venture will also develop similar projects in other areas in the future. He did not provide further details about the project. (*)
