IDX-listed construction company PT Waskita Karya said that a 2x5 MW mini-hydro power plant in Sangir, West Sumatra, is scheduled to start commercial operation in the first half of next year.
The company said in a presentation material seen Monday that construction of the power plant project under the build, operate and owned (BOO) scheme was started in May of this year.
The project is being developed by PT Waskita Sangir Energy, a joint venture between PT Waskita (85 percent ownership) and PT Shalawat Power (15 percent), which was formed in 2013 to develop mini-hydro power plants in Indonesia.
