Water level at Barito River rises up to normal

Local newspaper reported that water level at the Barito River, Central Kalimantan has increased following a number of rainfall recorded in North Barito and Murung Raya regencies in recent days.

Local authority said as quoted by the newspaper that since Sunday (4/9) a number of barges have resumed their trip after being aground in recent weeks.

Water level at Muara Teweh as of Monday (5/9) stood at 6.10 meters. The number has increased significantly in the past one month after dry season. The recent two days rainfall level at the start of September 2011 stood at 32.7mm. ?This is normal,? local authority said.

Indonesia-listed heavy equipment distributor and coal miner PT United Tractors Tbk?s coal unit PT Tuah Turangga Agung (TTA) in Kapuas Tengah regency, Central Kalimantan only shipped 43,000 tonnes of coal during July period from previous month of 127,000 tonnes due to lower water level in Barito river, industrial source told Petromindo.Com.
