Weda Bay Minerals appoints Patrick Evans as President and CEO

The Board of Weda Bay Minerals Inc. (TSX:WDA - News) today announced Wednesday that the Company has appointed Patrick Evans to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer.

Patrick Evans is the former President and CEO of Toronto-listed Southern Platinum Corporation and Johannesburg-listed Messina Limited which were recently acquired by the London platinum major, Lonmin Plc. He also recently held the position of President and CEO of Toronto and London-listed SouthernEra Diamonds Inc. Prior to that he was a senior executive with the Canadian gold producer Placer Dome Inc. and a member of the Executive Committee of the Chamber of Mines of South Africa. Evans is a graduate of the University of Cape Town (B.A., B.Sc.).

Weda Bay Minerals Inc. is an exploration and development company focused on nickel and cobalt laterite project on the island of Halmahera. The Company has completed an independent Pre Feasibility Study, which concludes that the Halmahera project is highly viable.(alex)
