PT Well Harvest Winning Alumina Refinery (WHW AR), which operates smelter grade alumina refinery in Ketapang, West Kalimantan Province, has exported a total of 1.1 million tons of alumina, mostly to China, over the past year.

?This is in line with our target of 1 million tons per year,? said WHW Director Stevi Thomas in a statement on Monday.

WHW, which started production in the middle of last year, operates a 1 million-ton per year capacity of alumina smelter. The company is 30 percent owned by IDX-listed mining firm PT Cita Mineral Investindo Tbk via subsidiary PT Harita Prima Abadi, 56 percent China Hongqiao Group Limited, 9 percent Winning Investment (HK) Company Ltd, and 5 percent Shandong Weiqiao Aluminum & Electricity Co. Ltd.

WHW plans to expand the Ketapang alumina smelter to eventually reach total capacity of 4 million tons per year. Cita supplies part of the bauxite ore requirement.
