West Java firm to develop two mini-hydro power plants

PT Tirta Gemah Ripah, a company owned by the West Java provincial administration, plans to build two mini-hydro power plants in Cirompang Atas, Garut, and in Cikembang, Tasikmalaya.

This was said by Tirta President Director Emryas Imsak Soelaiman on the sidelines of an IPP conference on Thursday.

He said that the power plant in Cirompang wil have a capacity of 2.3 MW, while the one in Cikembang Tasik 3.6 MW. Investment cost is estimated at US$2 million per MW.

?We plan to start construction end of this year. It is expected to be completed in 18 months,? he said, adding the company is still in the process of completing the necessary requirements to be able to sign power purchase agreement (PPA) for the projects with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.

Tirta currently operates a mini-hydro power plant in Cirompang Bungbulang.
