West Java FSRU starts supplying Muara Karang power plant

Gas has started flowing in from the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) in Jakarta bay to the Muara Karang power plant belonging to state owned utility firm PT PLN.

"The gas supply from the West Java FSRU yesterday, May 24, 2012, arrived at Muara Karang," Suryadi Mardjoeki, PLN Head of Oil and Gas Fuel Division, told petromindo.com on Friday.

At the early stages, Suryadi added, the gas flowed at the rate of between 30 and 50 mmscfd. "Hopefully this will continue to flow in smoothly so as the supply could gradually be increased to 165 mmscfd."

The West Java FSRU, the first one in Indonesia, is owned by PT Nusantara Regas, a joint venture of state-owned oil,gas company PT Pertamina and gas distributor PT PGN.
