West Kutai attracts investors

The West Kutai regency administration in East Kalimantan managed to arouse the interest of investors in the investment opportunities in the regency during a roadshow end-June in Jakarta.

"During the roadshow, a number of investors expressed interest (to invest in the regency). If anything, some of them want to soon make investment," regent Awang Farouk Ishak was quoted by Kalteng Pos (Kapos) as saying in Sangatta on Tuesday.

He said about 250 investors attended the roadshow, which was held on June 26.

The investors were offered with investment opportunities in mining and plantation. The regency is believed to possess tens of million tons of coal resource, gold resource and around two million hectares of land suitable for plantation development.

The regency also has a huge resource of C-class mining products, including limestone, whose deposit is believed to reach 21.4 million cubic meters, enough one hundred years of cement production. The limestone deposit is mostly situated in the East Kutai area. (*)
