West Nusa Tengara's exports to soar thanks to Newmont

The exports of West Nusa Tenggara will rise 184.2 percent to US$300 million this year from $29.4 million last year mainly thanks to the operation of copper and gold mining company PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara in Batu Hijau, Sumbawa, Bali Post reported.

The paper quoted head of the province's industry and trade office Bustinir said Newmont would become the main contributor to the province's exports in the coming years.

He aside from copper and gold, pearls and handicraft would become main contributors to the province's exports.

Newmont started this year the operation of its Batu Hijau copper and gold mine. (*)
