West Sumatra aims for center of green energy

West Sumatra and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources signed on Tuesday an agreement on the development acceleration of new and renewable sources and energy to help support the province becoming a center of green energy.
The MoU was signed by West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno and the Ministry?s Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Rida Mulyana.
?The MoU aims to provide the foundation for future polices on the acceleration of renewable energy development,? said Rida after the signing.
According to the MoU draft made available to petromindo.com, the Ministry will help support capacity building efforts of staff at the provincial office.
The regional government meanwhile will prepare a number of locations for renewable energy development and facilitate all the licensing requirements. It will also team with the Ministry?s team to carry out feasibility study.
