West Sumatra to develop renewable energy potentials

West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno is scheduled on Tuesday to sign a preliminary deal with the Energy and Mineral Resource Ministry on the development acceleration of renewable energy potentials in the province.

The Ministry will be represented by Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation.

?Yes, there will be a memorandum of understanding (MoU) tomorrow (Tuesday) on the development of renewable sources of energy in West Sumatra. This program aims at making the province as a center of ?green energy,? Irwan told petromindo.com Monday.

Under the draft made available to petromindo.com, the Ministry will help support capacity building efforts of staff at the provincial office.

The regional government meanwhile will prepare a number of locations for renewable energy development and facilitate all the licensing requirements. It will also team with the Ministry?s team to carry out feasibility study.
