WesternGeco awarded survey at BP?s West Aru blocks

Global geophysical services firm WesternGeco, a unit business segment of New York-listed Schlumberger, has been awarded a seismic survey by BP Plc to be conducted over a maximum of 9,000-km2 in West Aru I and II PSCs.
A report from Schlumberger shows that the contract will be one of the largest 3D marine seismic surveys ever carried out in Indonesia. The project will use Q-Marine Solid?s streamer technology and include extensive onboard data processing.
As reported earlier, BP is preparing to shoot the largest single seismic survey in mid-2013 at its West Aru I and II PSCs in Arafura Sea, two deep-water blocks it secured at the end of 2011.
BP has 100 percent interest in both West Aru I and II PSCs, which cover 8100 km2 and 8300 km2 respectively.
