ASX-listed White Energy Limited said it continued to review opportunities to acquire coal concessions in the Kalimantan region of Indonesia, which include coal upgrading opportunities requiring application of the BCB (binderless coal briquetting) technology.
The company said in a statement Thursday that White Energy representatives in Indonesia have continued to perform due diligence work on a number of short-listed coal concessions which have been identified for potential acquisition.
?The coal properties being considered by White Energy comprise a mixture of coal qualities. Most of the resources are likely to be suitable for upgrading using the BCB technology, which has the potential to greatly enhance the value of such projects,? the company said.
In addition, the company said it also expects that some of the resources in question will not require application of the BCB technology, and can be mined and sold directly into the export markets.
White Energy said on its website that the ever increasing global demand for Indonesian coals, together with a good domestic and export infrastructure and a large abundance of sub-bituminous coal deposits, makes Indonesia an ideal location for the commercialization of the BCB technology.
?White Energy is looking to acquire a majority equity interest in good quality, low cost mining assets which will give White Energy control and certainty of feedstock coal supply and enable it to capture a greater portion of the value chain. White Energy has identified a number of coal mining properties which are likely to be suitable for upgrading using White Energy's BCB technology. The ability to utilize the BCB technology on these coal concessions has the potential to greatly enhance the value of such projects.?
