Wider ban on the use of subsidized fuels

The government is putting in place a wider ban on the use of subsidized fuels this year, having failed to keep the use of the fuels under the quota last year.

Starting from February 1 and March 1, the ban will be applied to fuels used in sea transportation and land vehicles operated in the distribution of forestry-based commercial products, respectively. The sea transportation refers to all kind of boats carrying goods for commercial purposes and those carrying non-economic class passengers.

These bans are stipulated under the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministerial Regulation No. 1/2013 on the Fuel Use Control dated on January 2.

This will come on top of a similar ban already implemented since 2012, namely a ban on the use of subsidized fuels for vehicles belonging to regional governments, state enterprises and vehicles used in commercial plantation and mining operations.
