PT Wijaya Karya and its partners have delayed the first drilling of their Tampomas geothermal field in Sumedang, West Java until next year due to a problem related to land acquisition
Wijaya Karya director for operation 1 Slamet Maryono said that the companies were currently negotiating the compensation for the areas used for drilling activities.
Wijaya and its partners earlier planned to begin the drilling at the geothermal field at the end of this year. The development of the field is an integrated part of the company?s plan to develop a geothermal power plant in the area.
The plant which will have a capacity to generate 40 megawatt of electricity will be operated by Wijaya and its partners under a 30-year contract. Wijaya and its partners will act as an independent power producer (IPP) which will sell the electricity to state electricity company PLN. (giok)
