Wijaya Karya wins new power plant project

IDX-listed construction company PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (WIKA) has won a tender for the construction of the Arun gas-fired power plant with capacity of 200 megawatt (MW) in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, Kontan reported on Friday.

The construction works of the new power plant project which is worth Rp 1.3 trillion would be completed in 18 months.

WIKA?s corporate secretary Natal Argawan said that the Arun power plant was scheduled for commercial operation in January 2015. ?The company is responsible for all the construction works ranging from mechanical, electric, civil and maintenance,? he said.

Last year WIKA built five new power plants with total contracts of Rp 1.7 trillion. They include PLTD Bali diesel power plant, with capacity of 50 MW, PLTG Borang gas-fired power plants with capacity of 60 MW, PLTG Rengat gas-fired power plant with capacity of 21 MW, PLTD Ambon diesel power plant with capacity of 34 MW, and PLTG Rawa Minyak gas-fired power plant with capacity of 25 MW.
