Wika consortium wins EPC tender for Sumbagut-2 peaker power plant project

A consortium comprising of IDX-listed engineering and construction firm PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (Wika), PT Sumberdaya Sewatama and Spain?s TSK Electronica Y Electrucidad. S. A. has won EPC tender for the construction and maintenance of the 250 MW Sumbagut-2 peaker power plant project.

Corporate Secretary of Wika, Suradi Wongso Suwaro, said the contract for the estimated US$178.66 million project was signed in December of last year.

He told Petromindo.com that the contract is for a 20-month construction work and five years of maintenance and operation. He added that Wika holds a 30 percent stake in the consortium.

The peaker Sumbagut-2 power plant project will be located at the area of PT Perta Arun Gas in Lhokseumawe, Aceh Province. Electricity output from the combined-cycle power plant will be distributed to help meet demand in Aceh and North Sumatra provinces particularly during peak load.

Elsewhere, Suradi said that Wika has been quite aggressive in seeking for power plant projects. This year, the company is seeking to grap 4.9 trillion worth of new power plant projects.
