Wika inaugurates three power plants in Timor Leste

Indonesia-listed construction firm PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA), an Indonesian construction and engineering company, has officially inaugurated the operation of three diesel-fired power plants the company built in Timor Leste.

WIKA spokesman Natal Argawan said that three power stations were part of seven diesel-fired power stations currently built by WIKA in Timor Leste. The total capacity of the diesel fired power plants reach 119.5 megawatt.

From the Timor Leste projects, which began in February 2011, WIKA booked total contracts of US$20 million. The contract comprised $19.2 million for civil works and storage tank, and about $8000,000 for additional works.

WIKA said earlier that new contracts it received as of October 2011 rose to Rp 10.9 trillion from Rp 9.42 trllion as of September. Natal said that the new contracts recorded at the end of October rose 197.6 percent from tose realized in the same period last year. The new contracts as of October also account for 89.2 percent from the company?s total new contract target this year.

The new contracts include construction of the hauling road of PT Gunung Bara Utama, West Kutai worth Rp 311.7 billion, the construction of a bridge in Tayan, West Kalimantan worth Rp 740 billion, normalization of the Lamong Gulf worth Rp 420milyar, normalization of Citarum river worth Rp 234milyar, normaliation of Pesanggerahan river (Pakage 2) worth Rp 281.8 billion and the construction of an access road in Gunung Putri worth Rp 118.2 billion.
