PT Waskita Sangir Energi (WSE) has set a target its 2x5 MW mini hydrower plant, PLTM Sangir, in Solok Selatan regency, West Sumatra to come onstream in the first quarter of next year.

?The progress of physical works has reached 40 percent. Machines are expected to arrive in August. In January (of 2016), we?ll start selling (power),? Desi Arryani, First Operational Director of PT Waskita Kaarya, the holding company of the firm, on Wednesday in Jakarta.

She said WSE is investing Rp 260 billion for the project, which is its first project in the power sector

The project is being developed under the build, operate and owned (BOO) scheme, starting in May of last year. WSE is a joint venture between PT Waskita (85 percent ownership) and PT Shalawat Power (15 percent), established in 2013, focused on developing mini-hydro power plants in Indonesia.

According to Desi, many parties have offered the firm to develop other power plant projects under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) scheme.

?There are two other projects (that will be developed by the firm) this year. One of them is located in Papua,? she said, without providing details.
