Wika-Tsukushima consortium bids for Tayan alumina project EPC

The report said the consortium is asking for US$314 million to develop the project, which is owned by PT Indonesia Chemical Alumina (ICA). ICA is 65 percent owned by IDX-listed state miner PT Aneka Tambang Tbk and the balance are held by Japanese firms Show Denko Corp. (20%) and Marubeni Corp. (15%).
Wijaya Karya President Bintang Perbowo said ICA would announce winner early May.
The report did not say who other bidders are.
ICA re-tenders the Tayan project as the $450 million price tag offered by previous winner Kawasaki heavy Industries.
The Tayan project is expected to produce 300,000 tonnes per year of chemical grade alumina. Showa Denko will also act as offtaker of some of the plant?s output and Marubeni will act as marketing agent.
The project?s construction is expected to take 28 months.(*)
