Wilmar to build bio-diesel plant in E. Java

World?s largest listed palm oil firm will build a bio-diesel plant in Gresik, East Java, capable of producing 800,000 kiloliters of bio-diesel annually, Director General of Oil and gas Evita Legowo said as quoted by Detik.Com.

Evita said Wilmar will invest US$100-150 million to build the plant.

Earlier Wilmar CEO Martua Sitorus said that the plant would start bio-diesel production in April 2009.

Currently, Wilmar operates a bio-diesel plant in Dumai, Riau with capacity of 1 million kiloliters per annum.

Wilmar is also eyeing to build similar plant in Central Kalimantan late 2009, followed by West Kalimantan, South Sulawesi and Balikpapan, the report said. (*)
