The award was handed over by TUV International Indonesia?s president Markus Hattemer to Wiraswasta?s president AP Batubara Friday evening at the Grand Melia Hotel in Jakarta.
The award was given in appreciation of the environmental management at the company?s lube plant in Cibitung, Bekasi , West Java.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro who attended the certificate awarding ceremony said he ?positively? welcome the event, saying it was the first environmental ISO certificate to be awarded to the local lube company.
?The awarding of the ISO 14001 certificate has completed our happiness after we also received last year the ISO 9002 certificate which acknowledged the quality control of our products,? Batubara said.
?Our lube plant in Cibitung was designed to be a benchmark for the environmentally-friendly industry. Every stage of production was equipped with a waste-processing system which thoroughly prevents pollution,? he added.
Wiraswasta, which started operation on March 4, 1996, produces 120 million liters of lube products, which carries a total of 50 brands, including the popular Pennzoil and Evalube. (Godang)
