China-based EPC contractor Wison Engineering Ltd and coal mining firm PT Lion Power Energy are currently conducting a detailed feasibility study to develop a coal to petrochemical project in Muara Enim, South Sumatra.
Roy Daroyni, Wison Country General Manager International Division-Asia Pacific told Petromindo.com that the project will have total investment of US$2.5 billion.
?We have already finished the Pre-FS, and currently we are conducting the detailed FS. We expect to complete this detailed FS by next month,? he said.
Roy revealed that the project is targeted to have output of 300,000 tons of olefin and 200,000 tons gasoline from 4 million ton of coal as the feedstock.
He added that in this project, state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina is involved as the off-taker. ?Pertamina will be the off-taker of gasoline product,? he said, adding that Pertamina has an option to inject capital to the project if it runs well.
Roy, however, said Wison has yet to decide whether to invest in the project. ?So far, we are as the technical consultant as we have the expertise in coal to chemical industry especially in China. But in this project we have the first right of match to be the EPC contractor,? he said, adding that the company can be involved in the operation and maintenance of the project as they have the experience in such industry.
