Chinese firm Wison New Energies has completed the hull construction phase of the Genting floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project following a hull launching ceremony held on December 29, 2025, at its Nantong Yard in China.

The ceremony also marked the achievement of 10 million lost-time-injury-free (LTI-free) man hours on the project. With the hull phase completed, the project is entering the next stage, which includes topsides module integration and system installation.

The Genting FLNG project is being developed under an engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) contract signed in June 2024 between Wison New Energies and Genting Oil & Gas Sdn Bhd together with PT Layar Nusantara Gas, both subsidiaries of the Genting Group.

The FLNG facility has a length of 320.8 meters, a width of 60 meters, and a depth of 32.8 meters, with a liquefaction capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Upon completion, the unit is planned to be deployed in West Papua.

The Genting FLNG is Indonesia’s first floating LNG facility. It is the third FLNG unit constructed by Wison New Energies and forms part of the company’s portfolio of floating energy infrastructure projects.

Wison New Energies is a global energy technology and solutions provider, specializing in EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning) for clean energy projects, particularly in floating LNG, floating wind, gas-to-power, and offshore wind, offering integrated solutions for the LNG value chain and marine energy.
