Workers of Adaro?s contractor receive intimidation

Certain group of workers of PT Pama Persada Nusantara, which handle mining works for PT Adaro Indonesia, have allegedly intimidated their colleagues who want to end their protests against the company, Banjarmasin Post reported on Friday.

The police confirmed that there was an intimidation made against the workers, who have been on strike for several days.

?We could not yet unveil the group who made the intimidation as investigation was still going on,? the police said.

MA Janatha, the chairman of the unit of the radical labor organization Indonesian Prosperous Labor Union (SBSI) said he was attacked by a certain group of men after meeting with the company?s management.

But Ardiandyah, a member of the group which was accused of being involved in the attack, said that Janatha?s accusation was baseless.

PT Adaro Indonesia which operates coalmine in South Kalimantan declare force majeure to its buyers on Monday after Pama Persada made a similar declaration to Adaro. (*)
