Yogyakarta seeks to become solar power plant center of excellence

Medco Group has signed an MoU with the Yogyakarta administration, the Technology Application and Assessment Center (BPPT), and state-owned PT Len Industry to turn the province into the center of excellence for solar power plant in Indonesia.

Medco said in a statement that the MoU was signed by President Director of PT Medco Inti Dinamika, Hilmi Panigoro, Yogyakarta Governor Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, Head of BPPT Unggul Priyanto, and Len President Director Abaham Mose on Wednesday on the sidelines of the Bali Clean Energy Forum 2016.

The statement said that Yogyakarta has the potential to become the center of excellence for solar power plant development in Indonesia as it has the required human resources and relatively stable sun ray.

According to the MoU, the four parties will cooperate among others in the areas of research, technology development, exchange of information and data, education and training.
