Renewables Indonesia Limited and its local partner PT. Binatek Reka Energi will build a wind power plant (PLTB) with a generation capacity of 50 Megawatt (MW) in Samas, Bantul district of Yogyakarta province.
The wind power plant will be developed as part of technopark, which is designed for tourism purposes.
?We?ll start its construction in September this year. Hopefully, we?ll start the commercial operation in June or July of next year (2014). This power development is part of the development of the technopark,? expert staff of the energy and mineral resources ministry in charge of strategic development, IGN Wiratmaja Puja, said after accompanying Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik in a meeting with Yogyakarta Governor on Wednesday.
He pointed out that Miniser Jero Wacik has planned to give incentive for the wind power plant development. ?He (Minister Jero) will provide special incentives. As this is new and price will be higher, he will give incentives to cut the power price,? he said.
He added that the wind power plant will be the largest wind power plant in Indonesia. But, according to him, there will be a development of a larger wind power plant in Sulawesi later.
