Zelan-led consortium awarded C. Java coal-fired power plant project

Malaysian firm Zelan Berhad announced on Thursday that a consortium consisting of the company and its subsidiary and Indonesian firm PT Priamanaya Djan International (PDI) had been declared by state electricity firm PLN eligible to develop up to 800MW coal-fired power plant in rembang, Central Java.
Zelan and its subsidiary have 70 percent stake in the consortium, while PDI has the remanining balance.
According to the terms of the Notification of Award, PT PLN and the Consortium will proceed to finalize the definitive General Conditions of Contract for the Project, the company said.
The Project is awarded to the Consortium at the combination bid proposal price of around US$600 million.
The company said the project would take 33 months to complete.
Rembang power plant project is part of the 10,000 MW coal-fired power plant projects planned by the government to meet increasing electricity demand in Indonesia. (alex)
