As of August 2014, the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has announced "Clean & Clear" status to a total of 6,041 of mining concessions (IUPs) throughout Indonesia, of which about 3,580 are minerals concessions.

"Clean & Clear" status has become an important way for mining concession holders to ensure the validity of their mining concession. The status also confirms that there are no overlapping or conflicting concessions for either project so that mining activity can be carried out smoothly.
