Description
Indonesia accounts for 40 percent of the world's geothermal energy potential, currently less than 5% or about 1,436 MW of Indonesia's available geothermal resources are being tapped. To support the utilization of geothermal energy, the government has launched the Fast Track Program Phase II in order to accelerate a 10,000 MW electricity development of which about 4,925 MW will be generated from geothermal power plants. The government has also launched "Energy Vision 25/25" under which the energy utilization based on new and renewable energy will reach be reached to 25% of total national mixed energy in 2025 whereas the target of geothermal utilization itself is 5.7% or equivalent to 12,000 MW.
