PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR) is a mining company based in Indonesia that is engaged in the exploration, mining, and processing of gold and silver. The only place of operation is at the Martabe Gold Mine in North Sumatra. Company functions are managed from Jakarta.

Mineral Resources as of June 2021, reached 7.5 million ounces of gold and 72 million ounces of silver. Production began at Martabe on 24 July 2012, with the operating capacity of the Martabe Gold Mine exceeding 6 million tonnes of ore per year to produce more than 274,000 ounces of gold and 1.35 million ounces of silver per year.

PTAR employs more than 3,000 employees and contractors, over 99% of whom are Indonesian nationals, and more than 70% of whom are recruited from local residents. The majority shareholder in PTAR is PT Danusa Tambang Nusantara, which is owned by PT United Tractors, Tbk (60%) and PT Pamapersada Nusantara (40%), with a total share of 95%. PT United Tractors Tbk is a public company whose shares are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and is also a subsidiary of PT Astra International Tbk. PT United Tractors, Tbk’s share ownership consists of 59.50 by PT Astra International Tbk and 40.50% by the public. PT. Pamapersada Nusantara is 99.9% owned by PT United Tractors, Tbk. 5% of the Company’s shares are owned by PT Artha Nugraha Agung which is jointly owned by PT Pembangunan Prasarana Sumatera Utara with 30% and PT Tapanuli Selatan Membangun with 70%.

To strengthen the existing Corporate Communications team and to ensure the achievement of the department objectives, the Martabe Gold Mine is looking for candidate to fill the role:

SPECIALIST – MEDIA RELATIONS & ADVOCACY (CC 2208056)

This position will be based at Martabe Site in Corporate Communications Department, and reports directly to  the Manager - Public Relations.

The role of Specialist – Media Relations and Advocacy is to manage, maintain, and expand media network, develop and execute media-related work plans, and address the company’s messages thru a variety of channels and tools to help safeguard the company’s positive reputation. He/she is to coordinate and work together with Outreach and Advocacy Specialist in their day-to-day duties, ranging from expanding and maintaining media networks at national, provincial, and regional levels to other supporting duties. The goal is to raise awareness and disseminate the company news and get the message in front of the right audience. This position is also responsible for creating engaging communication content and relevant media channels to support effective change management plans driven by Business Process Improvement, Human Resources (HR), Health Safety and Environment (HSE), and Information Technology (IT) projects and others initiatives.

Expected Outcomes for the position of Specialist – Media Relations and Advocacy:

• Consistency in all aspects of media communication is managed and driven, to ensure that corporate message (on operational, corporate campaign: ESG, biodiversity, gender, and other focused priorities) is something that the public would find interesting enough to be the focus of online and printed media article through feature or storytelling.

• Being a gatekeeper who will sift through many media engagements and serve as Corporate media relations advisor.

• Day-to-day media monitoring, good analytical, and evaluation are conducted.

• All media events are of high quality with organized documentation for sharing and learning.

• Media collateral is prepared as appropriate in the best quality possible and promptly.

• The company’s brand shall grow out into the public consciousness and the stakeholders or target audiences are informed of the company’s mission and identity through media channels that they trust and have chosen to consume.

• Nurtured relationships with journalists/senior editor/owners and media opportunities are identified, which will offer several advantages to the company.

• Written materials including press releases, Q&A, and media standby statements on brand and corporate issues are well developed and approved properly before being disseminated to a targeted audience.

• Potential crisis is mitigated, and a better chance at controlling the message being relayed is made possible through various tactics.

• Media monitoring, research, analysis, and report on the effectiveness of the news publications and digital media, making appropriate improvements and recommendations.

Candidates for this role would be expected to have the following qualifications and experience:

1. Degree in Communications or Journalism or Public Relations.

2. Minimum has 10 years of experience (supervisory/specialist level) in corporate communications and/or public relations-related fields.

3. Some relevant capacity building/training includes journalistic writing both in Bahasa & English (press release, SBS elevator speech, press briefing, potential Q&A, media report, do’s don’ts on potential crises, etc).

4. Proven experience in developing successful PR activities, events, and media activities that affect behavior.

5. Have established a reliable network and knowledge of the publishing industry and the media, how they operate, and which types of media to use for different purposes.

6. Good communication and writing skills both in Indonesian and English (both are a MUST!), and the ability to draft (for review), and edit communications materials.

7. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and graphic design software programs (Adobe Photoshop/ InDesign/Illustrator and iMovie/Moviemaker), knowledge in photography and videography is desirable.

8. A skilled researcher with the ability to drive conclusions  and provide recommendations.

9. Excellent project management skills, ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects and prioritize workload.

10. Ability to effectively communicate complex and/or distinctive concepts clearly and concisely.

11. Exceptional attention to detail and quality.

12. Experience in successfully managing projects, involving multiple stakeholders, from start to finish.

13. Have an understanding of marketing, advertising, and communications within the business-to-business space; hands- on experience in business online marketing.

14. Strong ability to work and plan both independently and collaboratively and complete assignments in a timely and efficient manner.

15. Highly motivated to work in a demanding, very deadline-driven environment with the ability to work frequently under pressure and additional hours as job and peak business deadlines require.
