About the Role
CNGR Indonesia - a global leader in advanced battery materials, specializing in the production of lithium-ion battery cathode materials and nickel products, is looking for an experienced Geologist to support and lead geological field activities, particularly in laterite nickel deposits. This role is critical in ensuring accurate geological data collection, resource evaluation, and alignment with mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct geological field mapping of laterite nickel deposits
- Perform core logging and/or blast hole logging, including lithology, structure, and weathering profile
- Identify and classify laterite zones (topsoil, limonite, saprolite, bedrock)
- Supervise and support sample collection activities (drilling, test pits, production sampling)
- Ensure proper sampling techniques, QA/QC, and documentation standards
- Support grade control activities to distinguish ore vs waste
- Input, validate, and manage geological data in database systems
- Interpret geological data to support ore distribution analysis
- Prepare and update geological maps and cross sections
- Assist in block model development and updates
- Support resource estimation and reconciliation processes
- Collaborate closely with Mine Planning, Survey, and QA/QC teams
- Provide geological input for daily mining operations and optimization
- Participate in daily production and technical meetings
- Ensure all geological activities comply with company SOPs and regulatory standards
- Maintain high safety standards during fieldwork
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in geology and grade control
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology / Earth Sciences
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in mining geology (preferably nickel laterite)
- Strong hands-on experience in drilling, logging, and grade control
- Familiar with geological modeling and database systems
- Good understanding of resource estimation and reconciliation
- Strong coordination and communication skills across technical teams
- Willing to work in site-based environments
