Archipelago gold mining ops unaffected by eruption

UK-listed mining firm Archipelago Resources plc said on Monday that its gold mining operations in Toka Tindung, North Sulawesi was not affected by volcanic activity of Mt Lokon.
?Mt Lokon is located approximately 42 kilometers south west of Toka Tindung and 15 kilometres south south west of the Provincial capital of Manado. To date no sightings of dust have been reported at Toka Tindung, where operations are continuing as normal,? the company said.
Mt Lokon eruption has forced thousands of nearby residents to flee their homes.
Toka Tindung started production in April 2011 with annual production targeted at 160,000 ounces of gold equivalent for the first six years. (alex)
