Banjarmasin container terminal (TPK Banjarmasin), South Kalimantan, operated by PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, has added four Electric Rubber Tyred Gantry (E-RTG) cranes to increase container handling capacity and support rising cargo volumes.
The E-RTG units are electrically powered cranes used for container stacking and handling in the container yard, Terminal Head Sirin Purnomo said on Thursday.
The equipment addition is part of Pelindo Terminal Petikemas' investment program to expand terminal capacity and improve logistics services in South Kalimantan and nearby areas.
Sirin said the new cranes will help accommodate growth in container traffic and improve terminal operations.

The electric-powered equipment also supports Pelindo's efforts to reduce fuel consumption and increase energy efficiency.
Tujan Noor, a representative of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI/ILFA) Banjarmasin and the port services community, said the additional cranes are expected to increase productivity, speed up cargo handling and reduce congestion during peak periods.
He said TPK Banjarmasin serves as a key logistics gateway in South Kalimantan and requires continued infrastructure and equipment upgrades to support growing trade and industrial activity.
The four new E-RTG units will be used to support container handling for domestic and international cargo movements through the terminal.
