Indonesia’s latest tender for the Songgoriti geothermal working area closed without a single bidder, a source at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources told Petromindo.com.

The bid submission ended on Dec. 3. Mitra Cakrawala International (MCI) Group had earlier filed a letter of intent but ultimately chose not to proceed with a formal submission, the person familiar with the process said.

Songgoriti spans 20,340 hectares across Malang, Batu and Blitar in East Java. Tender documents estimate a P50 resource potential of 35 MW with reservoir temperatures around 220°C. The field was last explored in 2012 by PT Geo ACE under a one-year preliminary survey assignment, but work did not advance to detailed exploration.

The tender outcome comes despite the project’s inclusion in PLN’s 2025–2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL), which targets 55 MW of capacity and a 2033 commercial operation date.

The source said the ministry will review the tender terms and assess why investor interest failed to materialize before deciding on next steps.
