EMP Bentu revives idle gas well in Riau

An idle gas well operated by PT EMP Bentu Ltd. has been brought back into production after maintenance work, exceeding initial output targets, upstream regulator SKK Migas top official said.

SKK Migas Head Djoko Siswanto said the Bentu-2 well, previously shut in, underwent well service operations including new perforation and recompletion to access deeper reservoir layers.

The work was carried out between Feb. 18 and March 11 at the Bentu field in Pelalawan, Riau, using a 550-horsepower Arjuna-2 rig, with total operations lasting 22 days.

Following perforation of the Lower Binio 5a interval and completion activities, a flow test recorded gas production of 4.6 MMSCFD, exceeding the initial target of 3.2 MMSCFD.

The company is currently finalizing pipeline connections from the well to existing production facilities and is seeking approval from SKK Migas to bring the well fully online.

EMP Bentu Ltd, a unit of upstream oil, gas firm PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (EMP) (IDX: ENRG) operates the onshore Bentu block.
