The government plans to begin the tender process for the Gilimanuk–Mengwi toll road project in Bali in 2027, with total investment estimated at Rp12.7 trillion ($747 million).

Deputy Public Works Minister Diana Kusumastuti said the project will be developed under a public-private partnership scheme.

The 96.84-km toll road will connect western and central Bali, aiming to improve logistics and tourism connectivity.

The project’s cost structure includes Rp8.52 trillion ($501 million) in construction costs and Rp4.59 trillion ($270 million) in government support.

The ministry is currently finalizing technical and administrative requirements, including environmental and land acquisition processes, to support the tender.

If preparations proceed as planned, the project is targeted to begin operations in 2031.

The toll road is expected to cut travel time between Gilimanuk and Mengwi by about 50%, reducing the journey from around six hours to approximately three hours.

Meanwhile, Wilan Oktavian said the government is revising project readiness documents to improve financial feasibility and attract investor interest.
